You aren’t the only one who’s ready to hurry inside when the temperatures drop outside.
But, how do you keep bugs out of your house in the winter for good?
Arrow Pest Control Owner and Expert Steve says there are plenty of steps you can take to keep the bugs away and enjoy a pest-free winter in doors.
1. Trim all trees and bushes near your home. Keep limbs and leaves trimmed back several feet away from the walls of your home. Basically, keep the bugs’ homes away from your home.
2. Pick all fruit from the trees in your yard. Whether it’s on the ground or in the trees, pick any fruit you do not plan to use. In fact, if you or your friends and family aren’t going to eat those luscious lemons, donate them to a local food bank. Fruit attracts all types of bugs and spiders; keep it picked up and you’ll reduce the bugs’ food source.
3. Check the outside of your home. If you can slide a piece of paper through the cracks in the doors or windows, or see light through any openings, chances are, bugs can sneak in. Visit your local home improvement store to find new rubber seals and calking.
4. Stay on top of your pest control services. The best way to keep bugs out of your house in the winter is to have a professional consistently spray an appropriate barrier around your home. Be sure to have your pest control professional visit at least once a month and contact him/her with any questions or concerns if you spot any pests.
